wood used - different thicknesses of ply are often used by builders and
the dry weight figure is based on the thinnest ply specified.

HIGHLANDER 9'
|
|
Because most
of our designs have their offsets and panel shapes stored on the computer,
altering a particular design to suit a clients
individual requirements of length, beam and draft, can be undertaken easily and
quickly. The Highlander 9' is a good example of this and has been developed from
the 10' Highlander for a client who needs a specific size of dinghy to fit on
the coachroof of his yacht. The drawings consist of the construction plan and
sail/rig plan of the Highlander 10 with a new drawing showing the hull panel,
frame and transom shapes for this 9' x 4'6" version. 3 sheets of 6mm ply
are used.

The 10'
Highlander uses 3 sheets of 6mm (1/4") ply and is considerably larger than
it's smaller sister and is ideal for use as a general purpose tender or fishing
boat. Her lug rig makes her ideal for teaching children to sail and her topsides
are high enough to keep youngsters in and spray out!
A roomy little first build easily car toppable.

| HIGHLANDER 11'
|
|
|
The
Highlander 11' Dinghy - this is a relatively new design with a beam of
5'2" and draft of 7"/3'1". Approx. weight is 105 lbs and
Sail Area is 66 sq.ft.
The hull shape very much
follows the original Highlander model with it's double
chine, except that, in this case, we have gone for a plumb bow and transom and
we have carried the 'V' bottom right through to the stern - this gives maximum
internal space/volume for a given length of hull and makes a very
practical family boat which is car toppable.
